The new speaker dock by iLuv easily deserves the title of best iPad 2 dock released to the market so far. The previous model, iLuv Audio Cube was a very good one but had carried its flaws but the new iLuv IMM727 ArtStation dock is close to the perfect.
First of all, as a design aspect, it is very modern looking and will contribute to your living room or any other place perfectly. It has arm tilts and free rotation is provided for the tablet which we think it is very innovative.

For the size, the sound quality is very crisp and loud coming from the speaker. Now, watching movies and listening to music from your iPad 2 will be a much satisfying experience we are sure.

When iPad was first introduced, many musicians were excited upon the possibilities it would bring to the portable music making and mixing with the promising apps. But, there was a problem with both iPad and iPad 2. It is no way to connect musical devices and instruments together directly. iPad camera connection kit only allowed one device at a time with tethering. Was is helpful? Absolutely no even for the novice musicians and hobbyists. Hopefully, we have Alesis iO Pro dock. It is a docking station with slots for both iPad and iPad 2 fitting. Musical properties include MIDI In and Outs, USB MIDI, Stereo outputs, guitar / XLR mic inputs (two), Video Out and a footswitch port.

I am quite disappointed the fact the functionality of the Apple iPad 2 dock. It is not about the design. The white accessory is stylish, unexpectedly heavy and looking secure, but the real point is the lack of functions. Why would you pay around $27 just for a charging stand? It has no cables and we get only audio out. It is portrait only. And, you can not put iPad 2 on the docking station with smart cover or most probably with most cases on it. This is a big downside in my opinion.

There are many alternatives from 3rd parties now to provide a better experience as a base station for iPad 2. For example, iLuv ipad2 dock or iSound are just two of them. Both of them provide built-in speakers. If your sole reason is to use it for typing with a bluetooth keyboard, ZaggMate keyboard case or ZaggFolio would be better choices. Because they feature an integrated keyboard, case and multiple angle stands.
There are positives surely. The build quality is impressive. If you have owned a Time Capsule, you will understand me. The white plastic is very sticky and sturdy. Do not worry. Your iPad 2 will not fall even though this gadget looks very weak to support it. It is not.
So, my rating would be 6/10.
