Octiv Stage was a hit accessory for the original iPad in 2010 and even managed to win a few awards including 2011 CES Innovations Award for ”Outstanding Design and Engineering”. Being a popular and qualified device, iPad 2 owners demanded to be able to use it and Altec responded to the demand. It is possible to use Apple iPad 2 on this dock with the help of the adapter now. (Full features on Amazon.com)

After the good news, let’s start our short review about Altec Lansing Octive Stage speaker dock for iPad2.
First the main features as a list:
- 2 inch Dual full-range neodymium speaker drivers
- Charging iPad 2 on the dock
- Support for both orientations: portrait and landscape
- Adjustable viewing angles
- Easy to use remote control with many functions
Sound quality is very sophisticated if we consider the small size. We have listened music, podcasts and a few audio books for voice clarity; watched a HD video. All was crisp and bass and treble sounds were clean of noise on high volumes as well. But, do not force to the limits. It is not a Harmon Kardon !
The unit is stylish, secure and not that heavy. As a design, it suits to iPad 2. Remote control will work from distance such 15 feet away as we tested and approved.
We believe that MP450 Octive Stage for iPad 2 will open a new entertainment channel for your home. So far, it is one of the best iPad 2 dock devices which we have reviewed.

Having 2 x 2 Watts per channel power output, Logic3 i-Station Podium will not surely replace your aging surround home sound system but it achieves what it promises very well. Producing decent sound and being a home for iPad 2 in your room or kitchen.

The dock is stable and securely holds the iPad even though it is made from plastic. It will rotate to provide both portrait and landscape modes for the tablet. Footrest is adjustable for multiple viewing angles.
You can download free app from the Apple market and get more features such as alarm clock with modes, calendar, equalizer, photo album, music player, Internet radio dock etc. The accessory is compatible to iPad and iPad 2.
It is possible to connect other audio resources using the standard stereo line-in slot.
We would appreciate more if it had the recharging of the tablet as well. The price tag is another downside. If you really need a dock anyway (for example; in kitchen for recipes while listening to music), it can be an option.
